Something Blue is at The Lake!

Something Blue Is Here — And It Was Not the Dramatic Arrival I Planned

I have a confession.

This is the largest order I've placed since I started this business almost a year ago. Up until now I've been deliberately cautious — dipping my toe in, learning my processes, trying not to be on the hook for more inventory than I knew what to do with. I've learned a lot. The site is in good shape. I'm getting better at showing up on socials, even if I still have a long way to go. But this order? This one was a leap.

And if there are any actual fabric shop owners reading this — which I sincerely doubt — they are going to fall out of their chairs laughing at what I'm about to say.

In my head, the arrival of Something Blue looked like this: an eighteen-wheeler pulling up the drive. A guy with a hand truck. Maybe two guys. Something appropriately dramatic to mark the occasion.

What actually happened: the FedEx driver left four boxes by my garage while I wasn't home. I didn't even know it was there.

Four boxes. Thirty-two bolts. Something Blue lights, darks, and blenders — the full collection. I also ordered the Poppy Seed Basics case pack, of which seven of fifteen bolts have arrived so far, with the rest on the way. And on the recommendation of my Brewer rep, I added Brie fat quarters for appliqué work. So this is a real order. It just arrived like a normal Tuesday.

I haven't unboxed it yet. The boxes are sitting in my workspace and I will be honest — I keep walking past them.

Here's the other thing. There’s a label on it that says: Worldwide release June 1. Do not display or ship until June 1.

I'm a nurse. I follow rules. Those bolts are not moving until June 1st.

But I can take pre-orders. And I would genuinely appreciate it if you placed one.

If you've been eyeing Something Blue — and if you know Tilda, you already know whether this collection is for you — now is a good time to get your order in. The Something Blue lights, darks, and blenders are all available in half-yard increments, and Poppy Seed Basics will be fully in stock by June 1st as well.

I'll be unboxing everything this week and sharing it on Instagram (@lake_quilt) as soon as humanly possible given the rules on the box. Come find me over there.

In the meantime — the pre-order link is live. Go take a look.
